Stainless Steel Braided Hose & Custom Lines

stainless steel braided hose

Greenshields Industrial Supply builds stainless steel braided hose assemblies and custom lines to spec, cut and crimped at our Everett counter. Steel braid over the right core holds pressure that rubber gives up on. It also takes abrasion that would rub a soft cover through in a season. Tell us the fluid, the working pressure, and the ends your equipment runs. We have been crimping hose assemblies here since 1953, which means the spec questions get settled before anything gets cut.

What Goes Into a Stainless Steel Braided Hose

Every stainless braided hose starts with a core that carries the fluid, adds a stainless steel wire braid over it, then finishes with a protective cover.

The core decides what you can run through the line. PTFE handles the rough service, including fuel, hot oil, steam, and most industrial chemicals. Synthetic rubber cores cost less and hold up fine on general fluid and air work. Pick the core for the fluid first. A braided stainless steel hose with the wrong core inside still fails on you, just slower.

Braid grade matters as much as core material. 304 stainless covers most shop and equipment service. 316 costs more and pulls its weight around salt air, washdown bays, and corrosive media. Our guide to choosing hose for military and marine applications digs into that call. Ask before you order. A stainless braided hose in the wrong grade pits and frays where nobody can see it happening.

High Pressure Stainless Steel Braided Hose for Hard Service

Three things separate a high pressure stainless steel braided hose from a rubber line.

  • Pressure. The wire braid carries the load so the line will not swell or split. Ratings on a stainless braided hose fall as inside diameter grows. A 3/16 inch PTFE line can run several thousand psi, while a 1-inch line runs a fraction of that. We read the rating per size.
  • Heat. PTFE-core hose built to SAE 100R14 works from roughly -65°F to +400°F. That covers manifold heat and hot oil runs where rubber hardens and cracks early.
  • Abrasion. The braid on a braided stainless hose doubles as armor against rub-through, kinking, and the odd crush from bay traffic.

Braided stainless proves itself well outside hydraulics. Transport for NSW type-approves flexible braided stainless steel air hoses for heavy rail air systems, which says plenty about how these assemblies hold up under constant vibration.

Braid has limits. A scored port face or a chewed fitting seat leaks under any hose you put on it, so we check the seat before we build.  Where a line rubs a bracket, hose protectors buy you years. Before you pull any line, relieve the pressure on the circuit first.

Custom Braided Lines Built to Your Spec

We build custom braided lines to length with the ends your equipment actually uses. Bring us the failed assembly or the measurements off the machine. We match inside diameter, overall length, and fitting style, then crimp on our own dies.

A web configurator cannot see that your old line was chafing on a bracket or that the run needs an elbow to stop a kink. Our counter crew can. That judgment separates a part that fits from a part that lasts.

Custom braided lines leave this shop for:

  • Excavators, loaders, and skid steers
  • Tractors, sprayers, and other ag equipment
  • Plant and manufacturing fluid lines
  • Fuel, oil, coolant, and compressed air runs

Browse our hose selection, or head to the hydraulic hose shop for assembly work. Running your own builds? We stock the hose assembly tools to cut, skive, and crimp them. Our walkthroughs on how to make hydraulic hoses and how to replace a hydraulic hose cover the steps.

Custom Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines and Brake Hose

We fabricate custom stainless steel braided brake lines too. Brake work runs by its own rulebook, since anything road-legal carries federal marking and pressure requirements. Our custom brake lines page covers custom braided stainless steel brake lines and bent hard line in full.

Need custom steel braided brake lines or a stainless braided brake hose for an off-road rig? Same counter, same crimp gear. We hold custom steel braided brake lines to the crimp standard every assembly here gets.

Why Order Braided Stainless Steel Hose from Greenshields

Catalog sites finish their job at the shipping label. Ours starts with your fluid and your pressure, then runs until the assembly seats and holds.

Seven decades of building braided stainless steel hose assemblies means the spec conversation takes minutes. You get an answer on core, braid grade, and end style while you stand at the counter.

Everything the build needs is stocked here. Braided stainless hose, fittings, adapters, and the tools to assemble them. You also get a crew that will say when a plain rubber line would serve just as well.

Call 425-259-0111 or message the counter with your sizes and pressures. We will spec the hose and build the line.
